Karathanasopoulos George

George Karathanasopoulos is currently a Master student in Nanotechnology for Energy Applications at the Hellenic Mediterranean University, Greece. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Material Science & Technology from the University of Crete, Greece. During his undergraduate studies, he gained experience in polymer physics, synthesis, and 3D design (CAD). He also participated in the ESA’s Fly Your Satellite 3! Student Programme as part of the SpaceDot Team – AcubeSAT, where he led the design of the Antenna Deployment Mechanism until Critical Design Review. He began working on lunar 3D printing technologies at the IESL, FORTH in 2023.

His current research interests include lunar regolith-based 3D printing, polymer-regolith composite materials, radiation shielding for space applications, and In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) technologies for lunar exploration.
