Iakovos Georgoudis Pitarokoilis

Iakovos Georgoudis Pitarokoilis is a PhD candidate in the Philosophy Department at the University of Ioannina and the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) at FORTH. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Patras and a Master of Arts in Bioethics from the Joint Graduate Programme in Bioethics at the University of Crete. His master’s thesis, Person and Machine: A Bioethical Approach, explored whether autonomous machines can be considered persons, while his PhD research examines how emerging technologies transform the concept of personhood. His primary research interests include Philosophy of Technology, Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science, Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, Applied Ethics, and Bioethics.
