Georgia Potsi

Dr. Georgia Potsi earned her B.Sc. in Mineral Resources Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece. She then pursued M.Sc. studies in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Ioannina, Greece, where she specialized in hybrid silicate materials. She holds a double doctorate degree from the University of Ioannina, Greece, and the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

During her Ph.D., her research focused on the synthesis and advanced characterization of nanostructures—including nanoparticles and nanodots—as well as layered 2D materials such as graphene, graphene analogues (-Xenes, -Xanes) and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). Following her doctoral studies, she served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies & Materials Institute (RCPTM), Czech Republic. She then continued as a research associate at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Cornell University, USA, specializing in porous materials and catalyst supports for energy applications.

Currently, she has joined the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) as a member of the management team at Stratakis Lab.
